Don’t Demotivate Your Staff!


When it comes to motivating your staff, there are tons of theories as to which methods work best.

Out of the ones I have studied, one of my favorite theories of motivation is Herzberg’s Two Factor Theorem.

What makes this theory so intriguing to me is its lack of rigidity. Some theories has strict structures as to how individuals are motivated.

This theory, on the other hand, simply assumes that there are certain factors that you can put into place that can motivate your staff, and others that can demotivate your staff. [click to continue...]

Have You Lost Your Baby Teeth Yet?


I had a dream a few months ago. I dreamt I was in school and my teeth were on the verge of falling out, almost as if they were my baby teeth.

I told my fiancee about my dream and she told me that she remembers reading about these types of dreams with losing teeth, and that it meant something, but she couldn’t remember what.

Challenging the Status Quo


A few weeks ago, the blogosphere was abuzz about the pilot of a new TV show, Trial by Fire, featuring The 4-Hour Workweek author, Tim Ferriss.

Regrettably, I missed the show, however, based on his book, his blog postings and what I have read about the TV show I have noticed that Tim, above all things does one thing and does that very well: learn.

Tim has won dancing and martial arts competitions, speaks several languages, is extremely proficient in business, writing and blogging and yet finds the time to do more and more. [click to continue...]

Working for a Salary is NOT Stupid


I think our traditional view of the role of a true entrepreneur has to be re-looked.

A month ago I wrote a post discussing why working for a salary is stupid, and that the only reason you should go into business is either to: a) grow income, or b) work less.

I have given these points a lot of thought and, while these are two very valid reasons to work for yourself, I don’t think that they are the only ones. More precisely, I don’t think these reasons tell the full story as to the true benefits to entrepreneurship. [click to continue...]
